Our Rebranding Announcement!
Dear Founders, Investors, & Friends,
We want to welcome you to our new name and logo — metagrove ventures!
Now, it’s never easy to change a name of a brand that is starting to reach an audience who are truly excited about what we’re doing. We know we’re already making waves throughout the startup community, but we feel that this is probably the right time to be making this update and hope that this new name will be timeless as we continue to grow and become a global top-tier VC fund.
We want to explain why we did what we did, what has changed, and what has not changed.
Why Now?
It’s humbling to see how much we’ve achieved so far from when we started off as Steamworks, however as we continue to grow, and expand our presence across Australia, New Zealand, and the US, we decided to rebrand ourselves now rather than later to better represent who we are as a fund.
So what’s with the name?
First and foremost, we are a community-driven fund. This means that we are supported by a strong group of partners, advisors, and mentors. Our “-grove” represents the notion of this exact family. Moreover, on the other side of the coin, we are also building a community of founders to grow, succeed, but most importantly to help each other out during their rollercoaster rides of building their companies. This makes all the more sense to give us a name that fosters community relationships.
Secondly, we chose the word “meta-” because it reflects a paradigm shift of transformation and going beyond. This is important to us as we are investing and backing founders who are looking to build the future of industry. Every day, the world is getting smaller and more digital. Technology is singlehandedly changing humanity. More people are on the internet than ever before. And technology enablers like blockchain, augmented/virtual reality, artificial intelligence, accelerated computing, IoT, 5G, 3D printing, automation, robotics and so much more will shape our lives and our communities for years to come.
We believe in the power of technology. But we also understand that technology is a double-edged sword. We exist because we want to back founders who will be able to use these tech enablers to innovate and transform sectors towards a brighter future and create inflection points in markets.

This is a big change for us, but we have now flipped to a new chapter in our journey and we’re super excited to continue along this journey with all of you.
